How to connect to an EC2 instance step by step

In the previous blog post, we have created our 1st EC2 instance in the AWS cloud. If you don’t have your instance created yet, kindly follow below link to create your EC2 instance.
In this blog post, we are going to learn about how to connect to an EC2 instance step by step
Below are the prerequisites for this blog post:
- One up and running EC2 AWS Linux instance
- Key Pair mapped with the instance
- Putty & PuttyGen to connect your instance.

How to connect to an EC2 instance using putty step by step:
Step 1: Convert your Key Pair to use with Putty
1. Open PuttyGen and click ‘Load’
2. Browse Key Pair with the .pem extension. Once opened click ‘Save privet key’
3. Give a name with .ppk extension and click ‘Save’
Step 2: Login to your AWS console and copy Public DNS of your instance under EC2 service
Step 3: Open Putty and under Host Name paste public DNS with ec2-user@ prefix
Step 4: Expand ‘SSH’ located in the left side panel of putty and select ‘Auth’ and click ‘Browse’. Open your Key Pair with .ppk extension and click ‘Open’
One warning alert will be displayed, click Yes
If everything is ok you will be connected to your EC2 instance
