Today we will discuss how to create a distribution setting in the AWS Image Builder service to share an image between multiple regions or accounts.

What is a distribution setting in AWS Image Builder?

Once you build, validate and test an image using the AWS Image builder pipeline, you need to tell AWS where to store the image using a distribution setting. You can share the final image to a different region within the same AWS account or to another AWS account.

How to create a distribution setting in AWS Image Builder?

Prerequisites:

AWS CLI installed and configured.

Step 1: Get the AWS account ID.

Step 2: Create a distribution setting config file.

Note: In this demo, we are using the same AWS account and region in the distribution setting.

Step 3: Create a distribution setting in AWS image builder using AWS CLI.

Step 4: Get details on the AWS Image builder distribution setting.

You can also use the AWS management console to create/update and get details on the distribution settings.

How to create a distribution setting in AWS Image Builder?
