In this blog post, we will discuss how to install and configure PowerShell for GCP cloud.

What Is PowerShell?

PowerShell is a cross-platform task automation and configuration management framework, consisting of a command-line shell and scripting language.

What is GCP?

GCP or Google Cloud Platform is the leading cloud service provider in the market with 9% market share.


  • One Windows system with PowerShell and internet.
  • Google Cloud SDK installed and configured.
  • Google Cloud API enabled for the services that you want to interact with.

How To Install And Configure PowerShell For GCP:

Step 1: Open PowerShell as administrator and run the below command to install PowerShell module for GCP

Step 2: Once the PowerShell module is installed for GCP, you can list all the cmdlets using the below command.

Step 3: Get help on a PowerShell cmdlet.

Step 4: Check if AWS credential working using the below command.

Note: Google cloud API needs to be enabled to interact with Google cloud resources. If you get an error for API being not enabled, follow the link given in the error and enable the API or login to your Google cloud console => Navigate to “API & Services” => Library => Enable the API as required. Here we assume that you have already set up the credentials as part of Google Cloud SDK installation. If not then you have to do that first.

Step 5: Execute your 1st PowerShell command for GCP.
